My Mini's default IP address was 192.168.10.40, so in Windows, I went into Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change Adapter Settings (on the list on the left) -> right clicked on the network I was currently connected to -> Found and highlighted the Internet Protocol Version option -> Hit the properties button beneath -> Chose "Use the following IP address" and entered 192.168.10.50 (you can put any number as the last number except 40).
The key to all of this is that your computer has to be on the same network as the device in order to update the network settings on it (if your network isn't set up to the 192.168.10.XX already), and you should know your regular IP address range(the number after the 168 in .XX) and gateway IP address (usually the router's IP address) In case anyone else runs into the problem, here's the fix that worked for me.
